The Gym.
Housed in what was the old Gorton Tub on Garratt Way, the City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics is a state of the art gymnastics centre.
The best of its kind in the country we offer excellent facilities for both the gymnastics beginner and the gymnastics elite alike.
Our permanent, fully fitted gym provides a safe environment to perform even the most complex of gymnastics skills.
To get a better idea of what we have to offer, take a look at our 360 degree panoramic shot at the top of the homepage. Simply click and hold to pan round the gym and if you have a mouse wheel you can zoom in and out too. You will also have to have flash player installed to gain full advantage of our website.
The Teaching Gym.
The Teaching Gym is a smaller gym, off the main gym.
This is where the gymnastics beginner starts out on their gymnastics career under the guidance of a fully qualified British Gymnastics coach.
The Teaching Gym is fully fitted out with trampettes, trampolines and foam pits for an extremely safe environment to learn in.
Once the gymnast is competent in the skills put together in a carefully structured program, they can progress through the British Gymnastics Badges and move up into the main gym where they can take full advantage of the facilities under the excellent tuition of more, fully qualified British Gymnastics coaches.
The Dance Studio.
The Dance Studio is as the name suggests.
Fitted out with wall mirrors, wall bar and a wood floor it also doubles up as a community room.
The dance studio is home to keep fit classes and martial arts groups during the week but is also used by gymnasts to practice their dancing techniques and correct foot position for safe landings when performing aerial skills.
The Tuck Shop or Cafeteria.
The tuck shop or cafeteria is a place to relax and have a cuppa and a light snack.
Manned completely by parent volunteers it offers a friendly place to sit and chat.
The Parent Support Group are always on the look out for more volunteers to help out, not only in the running of the tuck shop but in the organising of fund raising events which are run throughout the year.
Any parent wishing to get involved in this side of things should let themselves be known to Phil, the duty manager, who will point them towards other parent support members.
