The role of the parents support group is to support and organise fund raising events throughout the year. The group operates independently from the gym in order to alleviate the pressure of fundraising from the coaching staff. By parents taking on these roles the coaches are left to focus on their priority of providing top class coaching for the gymnastic club members. The parents support is not an exclusive club, it is there for all parents to get involved in if they wish to do so.

Currently the group consists of a handful of parents, Marie and Glenn Tupman who have always been the driving force behind the parents support group they organise meetings and make sure funds raised reach their intended target etc. Glenn is also involved on the coaching side and is a fully qualified club coach while Marie also takes charge of the club merchandise, ordering and selling items such as club leotards, hand and palm guards, tracksuits, t-shirts and the club raincoat or fleece. We also have Jackie and Phil Winstanley. Jackie is involved in the organising of the annual awards night which is held around March / April time each year and does a tremendous job while Phil is involved in maintaining the website and tries to keep the tuck shop walls up to date with the latest photos of the gymnast’s achievements as well as trying to fulfil his duties as a qualified assistant club coach. The four parents above also support the club when organising events throughout the year including the display evening, the fun day (when we get the weather!) bag packing at the local supermarkets and any sponsored events held in the club.

Ann Marie Wells has volunteered to take on the writing and publishing of the club newsletter. You will be able to subscribe to the newsletter by entering your e mail address in the newsletter subscription box at the bottom of the page. When a newsletter is published you will automatically be sent a copy via e-mail.

Russell Nickerson and Warren Shard, you will see around the tuck shop selling lottery tickets. Mandy, Karen, Katrina and Rose are the parent’s who provide an excellent service running the tuck shop throughout the week.

Everybody involved in the parents support group does a tremendous job and if things don’t seem to happen fast enough, its not because we’ve forgotten or we’re not trying, its because there’s not enough of us. So if you want to get involved all you need to do is approach Phil, the duty manager who will point you in the direction of a parent support member.
