The North West Gymnastics Association Annual Awards Night 2008.

The North West Gymnastics Associations Annual Awards Night took place at the Lancashire County Cricket Club on Sunday 16th November.

CMIG was well represented taking up two large tables in anticipation of maybe, winning some awards.
After tucking into some chilli and hot pot super we didn’t have long to wait for the Awards ceremony.

CMIG and our members, coaches and volunteers were nominated in four categories:

Byron Clithero, for Committee member of the year.
Jane Leigh, for mentor / volunteer co-ordinator of the year.
Alex Gagon, for under 11 Gymnast of the Year.
City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics, for Gymnastics Club of the Year.

All four nominations were successful with Byron being the first to take to the stage closely followed by Jane, Alex and a further four club members, Byron Clithero (again), Jane Leigh, Glenn Tupman and Phil Winstanley who went up to collect the much coveted Gymnastics club of the year award for CMIG.

These Awards are in recognition of CMIGs success and hard work over the last year and our ongoing efforts to become even better at what we do, offering Gymnastics to everyone from the toddler, all the way through to the gymnasts competing at regional, National and sometimes International levels.

It’s very satisfying to know that what we do is recognised beyond the club walls and we would like to say a big thank you to all involved without whom, these awards would not be possible.

Well done to Alex, I am sure this will not be the last award we see with his name on it, In Jane’s & Byron’s case these awards not only reflect the work done within CMIG but are more for work they have carried out at regional level with Jane acting as mentor coach for several of our own coaches as well as less qualified coaches from other gymnastic clubs, attending courses at various locations. Byron has been responsible for regional squad training and team selection for National Competitions with some outstanding results.

The club’s award is an achievement by everyone connected with the club including the gymnasts, coaches, helpers, parents, family and friends. We should also not forget our Facility Duty Manager Phil and a little input from a certain Mr. Colin Leigh.
