The grades National Finals

After competing in the Regional Finals of the Club Grade 1, 2 and 4 which were held at the Birchwood Centre, Warrington back in March, CMIG gymnasts Danielle McLellan, Lucy Roylance, Abbie Winstanley, Jessica Triffit, Ellie Smith and Tanith Rhodes qualified to represent the North West at the British Club Grade National Finals in Birmingham.
The girls competed over the weekend of 26th & 27th April and were up against the best Club Grade gymnasts in Great Britain and they didn’t disappoint.
Sunday saw Danielle and Lucy in their second major finals (grade 2 last year) giving a fantastic performance in cub grade 1, both having clear rounds. Lucy, after pulling off the great escape on the beam (you had to be there), came away in 18th position but Danielle gave the performance of the weekend taking overall 7th in Great Britain. This is a fantastic achievement and a much deserved one, making Danni’s smile even wider (if that’s possible).
Saturday saw Abbie compete in the club grade 2 final. This was Abbie’s second major finals after taking part in the club grade 3 finals last year. Trying to better her results of last year, Abbie fought hard, going clear on all pieces. This placed Abbie in 17th position equalling her best of 17th last year.
She’s consistent I’ll say that!
Saturday, and this time Jessica Triffit, Ellie Smith and reserve gymnast Tanith Rhodes take to the apparatus in the grade 4 competition. Again, up against opposition from the best club grade gymnast in Great Britain the girls did extremely well.
Jessica had a superb competition coming 16th overall while Ellie faired not quite as well but still put on a very respectable performance for her first major finals. Tanith narrowly missed out on competing after a last minute appearance from another team member.
